The Great American Smokeout

Press release from the Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services:

crushed out cigarette by Kym KempTobacco-Free Humboldt and The American Cancer Society (ACS) are encouraging local smokers to participate in the Great American Smokeout on Thursday, Nov. 17. The Great American Smokeout is a national event planned by ACS to support smokers to quit tobacco use for one day.

The Smokeout connects smokers to resources that can help them quit. Smokers who use counseling, nicotine-replacement therapy or a combination of the two are more likely to quit for good.

Smokers can find group and nicotine-replacement therapy at United Indian Health Services 707-825-5000 or Open Door Community Health Centers 707-441-1624. These resources are open to the public. The California Smoker’s Helpline is also available, providing telephone counseling at 1-800-NO-BUTTS. Additionally, smokers should talk to their doctors who can decide if medication is a good option. E-cigarettes are not tested or recommended to help people quit.

While a pack-a-day smoker can spend around $2,500 a year on cigarettes, the ACS points out that each pack results in $35 in health costs to the smoker, or just under $13,000 a year. Smoking remains the number one preventable cause of death in the U.S.

The first Great American Smokeout was held in 1977. Since then, tobacco use among U.S. adults has decreased from 34.1 to 16.8 percent.

Time would be better spent protesting the chemical additives in our tobacco, and eliminating the ATF and non-voted excise taxes.

I’d vote to increase the chemical sin cigarettes. They shouldn’t take so long to kill people.

Wow, could you imagine how irritable 20% of our entire country would be if they just stopped all production at once. I would love for a complete ban on tobacco products as I despise ever aspect of the habit. But unfortunately that will never happen. I’ve seen far to many loved ones life destroyed by cancer and end stage COPD. I’ve never once smoked a cigarette and I hope my son will follow suit as he gets older.

If they wanted smokers to quit, the last thing they’d try to ban globally is vapor. Millions have quit, thanks to vaping, but now the bureaucrats want it taxed to death & even banned. WHO does not promote health, they promote bureaucrats.
Even the scientists & doctors could not speak at the WHO convention, journalists could not attend the public meeting. The Rebel Media has the scoop, check out their channel after watching this video with Dr. Farsalinos.
The funniest, most hilarious, hypocracy? During the convention, the anti-smoking zealots smoked over 460,000 cigarettes a day, & it never phazed them. (India farmer protestors burned their tax crops, creating tobacco smoke so thick the smog levels were off the charts). https://m.youtube.com/watch?a=&feature=youtu.be&v=FOIbqtW7Z6k

Follow the money.
BTW, people who enjoy smoking, do not want to quit despite what the anti’s claim.
Smokers pay double health insurance, double tax, double everything. The $35.00 so called hardship is peanuts in comparison, & they can’t even prove a smoker’s only disease.

The tobacco free kids nutjob’s fear & hate campaign had the uninformed masses convinced that a wisp of smoke from a cigarette had people dropping dead in the streets, like flys in a pesticide factory.
Yet, here they are, all congregated in Delhi, smog levels normally sky high, now 90% highest toxic levels, planning taxes & bans on your wisps of vapor or cigar.
They each consumed 40 cigs a day, collectively over 400,000. Great place to hold a convention, because they KNOW the levels they call toxic are far higher. They weren’t worried in the slightest.

Nicotine is (used to be) a cheap non-pharmacuetical remedy to many ailments, including cognitive dissonance which is extremely prominent today. Unforunately, it wasn’t profitable for big pharma, until now. Always question why, who & how promoted any fear campaign geared towards prohibition of any sort.

Big pharma missing their blood pressure pill profits, so they have their pill pushers rally to tax & overregulate the vapor that reduces the need for pharmaceuticals.
