Rob Corpstein was demonstrating gemstone faceting on a Facetron at the 62nd Annual Humboldt County Gem and Mineral Show.
Steve Mobray of McKinleyville was picking out stones to use as decorations on flutes that he makes. This was his first time attending and he said he was finding some real treasures.
Humboldt County Gem and Mineral Society member Doug Batt oversaw the sand pit where people can scoop stones from the sand.
Donovan and Sara Lange, left, waited a year for the Gem and Mineral show to get a geode cut in two. The couple received the geode, which came form the Ochoco Mountains in Oregon as a wedding gift from Donovan’s father, but they missed the show last year.

I make alot for my daughter,but I used to sell at all the craft fairs so fun.i like lamp work,and stones.semi precious too.i use alot of abalone shells.a shop in Trinidad cuts shapes for me.love it.
Fun show. They have fossils as well as minerals and gems. Yay!
