Fish Sculpture Stolen From Salmon River Community
A large metal fish sculpture as stolen last week from its home by the Crapo Creek Bridge on the Salmon River Road, near Forks of Salmon, CA. The sculpture was hand crafted by our community’s retired Fire Chief over 15 years ago, and has served as an emblem of our community’s connection to and care for the Salmon River’s imperiled fisheries ever since. Our small community is extremely distressed by the loss of this iconic object.
The stolen sculpture was seen on the lumber rack of a dark colored pick-up truck near Guintoli Lane in Arcata, CA over the weekend of October 1st. It is approximately 12 feet long. The community would appreciate any further information about the whereabouts of the fish sculpture and hopes that it may be safely return. Please send information to [email protected].

That sucks hope you find butt head who stole it.
he’s not lonely any longer. he had giant love waiting for him…
Thanks for posting this! Please help to find Jim’s fish, and bring him home!!
It has to be tough to hid a 12 foot long salmon. Someone has seen it.
I hope that the person in possession of it gets reported.
Such a shitty thing to do!!some times one asshat ruins it for all.that was cool.hope it’s found un-harmed
Plz tell me I’m not the only one that finds it funny that theres a creek called ” Crapo Creek” muhahaha!! whoever got to choose the names of some of the creeks around here sure did a splendid job, “hooker creek” is another one of my favs.
Indian Dick in NoHum is noteworthy. N – – – – r Heaven does not appear on most new maps of the Mattole watershed (thank you) but also reflects the prevailng sentiment of the time. Oh, I forgot, racism has been dead since the Civil War. My bad.
Maybe it spawned and a bear or eagle took it up about 100 yards off the bank?
Either way that is cool and if it’s on eBay I’m going to bid for sure. Would be cool in my garage or out back under a tarp.
Oh…your on the wrong site. Go to LoCo if you wanna be a troll. On the real….somebody screwed up and it would mean alot to our community and to the family if it was returned. So….folks please keep an eye out. It all comes around, don’t ya know.
My point was what do you do with something like that?
Can’t sell it, can’t display it, just put it under a tarp?
Had to be personal, think hard on who it might be doing something to get even. Kids would have shot it up or threw it off a bridge.
That thing would be hard to hide.
Now that sure is fishy, Someone return that fish immediately.
Fish First ! By the way Hooker Creek is a fishing spot I thought Salmon Creeker was the funniest that always gets there goat even though it doesn’t really mean anything at all they still get pissed off about this sometimes. It’s pretty messed-up to do something like this to a rain catcher and that’s coming straight from the heart from another rain catcher I really hope they get this fish back and fast I will definitely keep my eyes and ears open .
I bet the thief or thieves that stole it were on methamphetamine tweekers will steal anything,if it’s not nailed down.
They should also look into Fort Knox mail boxes.
