This is the 3rd child today that has been assaulted by strangers. First the poor little girl close to the school in Arcata, then the teenage boy who was assaulted and his bike stolen from him and now this young girl. What the hell is going on around here. Who is watching the kids. We need to step up our watch on the children and definitely step up our prayers for our youth. How dare people stoop to assaulting children.

When I was 13, 20+ years ago, we didn’t have to worry about this shit happening. I would ride my bike all over town, not have to lock it up, and definitely didn’t have to worry about being assulted. I wouldn’t let a 16 year old go to the store alone by themselves these days. We live in a world where people are more worried about someone not saying the pledge of alligence then locking up the serial criminals who roam our streets. The government has changed the mindset of america. They have turned Americans against each other. Segregation is once again upon us. A cop shoots a man for fighting him and trying to take his gun, yet the cop is the one to blame. Because the cop is white and the criminal is black. It’s a sad world we live in.

When I was that age, 20+ years ago, I remember that I didn’t dare leave my bike unlocked, but that didn’t stop someone from stealing the seat using the quick release. Maybe McKinleyville was rougher than Eureka, or maybe you’ve got some nostalgia happenin’.

You wouldn’t let a 16 year old out to the store alone? Now that is a living hell you are building around yourself

I completely agree with your post. Seems like all of our small towns are going to hell in a hand basket.. Things definately are not what they used to be when we were young. I never my child (8yrs) out of my sight!

I just got home from an 11 state vacation and no where did we see anything like what Humboldt and Eureka has become. Very few homeless and only afew hitch hikers.

Eureka is Eureka because of too many nasty, irresponsible, slacker type, nanner state, loafing, system abusing, piece of ferndale cow dung adults who work in gubbamint, roam the street hoods and well, even tuck their kids in at night…….hipocrits leading hipocrit lifestyles……

Hard to take anyone who uses the phrase “gubbamint” seriously.

The only ones we have to blame for this are ourselves, by and large almost all of us have stopped engaging in the Societies in which we live. We have given up our responsibilities and rights and freedoms to government “officials”. Unfortunately they are people just like us trying to make a living from 9 to 5 and have very little ascentive to go out of their way to do a good job. Until people get engaged again and taken our responsibilities seriously and start demanding accountability things will not change. Stop voting for the same corrupt politicians time and time again just because of the party that they are affiliated with. Start learning who they are what their history and their actions prove that they are. Start making more educated decisions, stop bickering with each other over Petty stupid shit, find common ground and develop an alliance.
Stop letting people walk all over you. if there’s a piece of crap in the street Panhandle aggressively and accosting people you have every right to stand up for yourself, to belittle the person and make them feel unaccepted in our society. If there’s people coming here from other countries to do us harm we have every right not to allow them to come here. Progressiveness is a good thing as long as we don’t take it too far. If you see a piece of crap assaulting a child you don’t have to just call the cops get some people’s attention beat the shit out of person right there and then. If enough people start standing up for themselves criminals will stop praying on our community that’s why this didnt happened as much back in the day, because back in the day people didn’t allow it to happen.
