Elderly Eureka Man Dies in Fatal Accident
Press release from the California Highway Patrol:
On September 17, 2016, at approximately 1204 hours, CHP officers responded to a traffic collision on a private property dirt road near the intersection of Elk River Road and Brauning Lane. A 2015 Ford F250 driven by Charles McDougal Lawrence, age 82 of Eureka, for reasons still under investigation, collided with a raised dirt embankment, rolled over and came to rest on its roof. As a result of this incident, Lawrence sustained fatal injuries. Lawrence was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to have been a factor in this collision. The California Highway Patrol is investigating this collision.

Thank you for all of the good thoughts, ( Charlie’s firstborn grandson here) It’s likely he was unconcious or on his way out and that was the cause of the rollover, but either way he died where he loved being doing what he’d probably rather be doing most of the time.
