Heading south on Hwy 101? Expect some delays near Ukiah.

Around 3 p.m., a southbound tractor trailer carrying a large excavator on Hwy 101 struck the Perkins Street overpass near Ukiah. Luckily, it did not get stuck. However, the outside (#2) lane is closed during repairs.

Caltrans suggests drivers “anticipate minor traffic slowdowns and exercise caution as you travel through the area.”

In addition, they stated later, “Perkins Street will be closed in both directions at the overpass for the night. Motorists should consider using Gobbi Street as an alternative.”

As of 5:13 p.m. there are reports of traffic backed up on the California Highway Patrol page.

You are NOT supposed to check your load and height limits when driving a truck? ‘Splain’ that one to me, Lucy.

I don’t think your gonna convince anyone that this was smart, maybe try the old “Caltrans raised the roadway” defense. Or a trimmagrant Bulgarian caused it.
