[UPDATE Monday] Fire on the Stewart Ranch

map of fire area

Red circle marks the rough area that the fire is reported to be burning.

According to fire personnel able to see the flames, there is a fire burning in southeastern Humboldt on the Stewart Ranch near the intersection of Peak Road and Kekawaka Station Road.

The fire has burned “a couple acres.” It is spreading slowly in grassy areas under oak trees, according to traffic on the scanner.

We’ll update as soon as we get more details.

UPDATE 5:23 p.m.: A reader pointed out that this fire is actually about one mile inside of the Trinity County line.

UPDATE Monday: The fire has been contained and now firefighters are just patrolling it to be sure it stays that way.

I was driving on peak road around 4 pm, you could smoke that looked like a few acres at most. Within 5 minutes we started to see cal fire trucks heading up the mountain, Must have passed at least ten trucks on the way into garberville. Awesome response by cal fire! Thanks to the firefighters! Hopefully they were able to contain this one quick!
