Arrest of Man With Red Facial Tattoos Related to Out of State Warrant, Says Sheriff’s Office

At approximately 1:45 p.m. today at the Garberville Chevron, the deputies with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office searched and handcuffed a man with dreads and red tattoos on his face. Southern Humboldt community members are following this arrest closely as a man matching that unusual description has been discussed on social media as being one of several people law enforcement wanted to talk to in connection to the recent homicide of Stephanie Gawboy. Gawboy was discovered dead of a gunshot wound in her residence.

Selena Zorrilla-Mendoza, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that officers “detained a man with the red tattoos and we’re detaining him for an out of state warrant.” Zorrilla-Mendoza would not release the name of the man nor the reason for the warrant at this time. She reiterated, The Sheriff’s Department does not have a suspect for Gawboy’s death at this time.
