Man Arrested for His Alleged Role in the Death of a Man in Garberville Last July

Raymond Earl Preschern was booked into the Humboldt County Jail this last Friday for his alleged role in the death of Khanh Lam on July 18, 2015. Witnesses told the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office last year that Lam had been in an altercation with a woman and attempted to take her child from her car. This, the witnesses told Sheriff’s deputies, led to bystanders entering the dispute. Witnesses reported that Lam fell while running from the bystanders and struck his head. However, according to the forensic pathologist, the autopsy showed that “Lam’s injuries were not consistent with a fall, as previously reported by witnesses. Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head.” The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office then began investigating it as a homicide.

Today, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office released the following information:

PreschernOn July 6, 2016 Raymond Earl Preschern was arrested by the Portland Bureau of Police in Oregon on a Humboldt County Superior Court Ramey warrant for the murder of Khanh Lam. Preschern was extradited and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on Friday, August 19, 2016.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.

Pull up the horse reigns a bit, justice is never served for murder, but when a conviction of the actual criminal is successful, hopefully a renumeration of the victim’s rights can be translated to the greatest possible determination to sentence the killer to the maximum extent appropriately as possible knowing that the victim “gets no say cuz he is murdered.”

Life as a man is not acting like a thug when ya don’t know wtf is going on, but decide to leave the peanut gallery to kill another person over a dispute having nothing to do with ya.

Victim – Name is unique, was this a hate crime too?

Is it just me or does the article state that mr.lam attempted to take a woman’s child from her? Maybe mr.lam was a pos too, why is everyone so quick to assume it’s just this guy? If mr.lam was a pos then that wuld explain why bystanders chased him, isn’t anyone curious about these 2 points?
Assuming someone guilty immediately is seriously harming our justice system, not to say this guy is innocent, but many many people have been unjustly charged with crimes, had their face plastered all over as a suspect and then got released with dropped charges but no way to heal their reputation. Police arrest a suspect, not someone proven guilty of the crime. They also can make mistakes like any other human.

It’s the behavior of the accused that makes the difference and makes him appear to be a lying, low-life thug rather than a Good Samaritan: he beat a guy to death, then ran off. Contrast that to the recent shooting at the mouth of the Mattole, where the guy who shot someone in the leg to prevent his murderous attack on a woman was actually called a Good Samaritan by law enforcement. The shooter did not shoot to kill; and he called the cops immediately to tell them who he was, what he had just done, and why, and to notify them that the wounded man now needed medical attention and arrest.
Whereas this guy seems to have seen something he didn’t like, went on the macho enforcer trip and beat a guy to death, then ran off like a rat. Yes, we don’t know if the stories are true, and will have to leave it to a jury before we can leave off qualifiers like “apparently,” “allegedly,” and “seems to have.” Mr. Lam got no jury, no trial, just a death sentence from someone who (apparently) knew full well that beating a man and leaving him to die was wrong.

Also, punny or not can nearly guarantee this crime had a racial slant.. Wonder how much verbal interaction or investigation occurred prior to jumping and killing this guy?

And i find this fucking meathead loser looks hilarious in the mugshot, shoulda worn a “grateful incarcerated” tee instead.

Or did he try to do the right thing and took it too far? A lesson that went too far. No good deed goes unpunished!

1) Child custody disputes occur too, where mothers are pos’s……..enough with the gender bending rules set up to blanket statement, depicting fathers or men looking out for the best interests of a child AS BAD PEOPLE……..no one knows WHAT THE MOTHER’S ROLE IS.

2) All witnesses said he fell, but as the original story went over a year ago, holes were discovered and many “Kym readers” KNEW the witnesses were lying. One witness down as a suspect, how many more to be indicted and extradited???

3) The Suspect – although innocent until proven guilty, just the mere “look” of how this suspect “shows as a wannabe tough guy” is enough to not trust anything coming outta this dudes mouth, but ya never know.

Tatoos are also a present day profile characteristic associated with criminals of a certain profile type.

Poll – Are “tatted people” more likely to commit a serious crime?

At the time it said mr lamb had some sort of custody of the child, the fact the mother covered for what really happened in front of her and the child makes me sick, she should be locked away, the poor kid doesn’t need that kind of role model in there life either

Isn’t it great to know that killers like this were hanging out at the Town Square? Theres so many shady weirdos on the streets of Garberville and Redway it’s no surprise the drugs and violence is what it is.

I don’t get why witnesses would lie and say they watched the guy fall and hit his head, sounds like that might have happened but not the full truth. Unless of course all the witnesses just happened to be friends of this fellow.

It was a group of about 20 people that had been at the town square everyday, all day for about 3 months. That’s why the witnesses lied. They were all here together. Listening to them talk it was clear there were some very violent people among the group. I heard they were shooting up drugs around the neighborhood. A week or two before the murder I talked to a town square board member about them and asked that the square be fenced off for a few weeks using the Mateel’s nylon fencing. This murder could have been prevented. They left town the day it was announced that the victim had died. Hope the victim’s family can get justice in the courts.

Prevented? Using that logic, you should have arranged to fence off the whole town. Imagine all the crimes you could have “prevented”.
