[UPDATE 11 p.m. ] Injury Traffic Collision near V and 5th Street in Eureka

At approximately 10:45 p.m. a traffic collision at 5th and V Streets in Eureka is impeding traffic, according to emergency dispatch. One person is injured and requiring extrication. A power pole has been struck by at least one vehicle. Two ambulances have been requested.

UPDATE 11 p.m.: A silver Toyota pickup was one of the vehicles involved. The patient has been extricated and the second ambulance is on scene.

Odds are one of them ran a red light. Probably the driver on 5th Street.

EPD pays zero attention to stop sign and red light runners. People will die because of it.

Not so long ago, Eureka PD bought 4 new motorcycles. I haven’t seen one of them for a long while. What happened to them? They would be very useful for traffic enforcement!
