[UPDATE 9:40 a.m.] Truck With Large Missile-like Thing Parked in Garberville
So, hey, this truck parked in Garberville across from the Best Western Humboldt House Inn is carrying this missile like thing.
We’ve got a call into the Texas Travel Project asking what’s up. But meantime…Truck…missile thingy…Garberville…seemed worth wondering about.
UPDATE 8:40 a.m.: Local resident Will Johnson checked out the two (!) objects. He reports they are “2 large auxiliary under wing aircraft fuel tanks.” He said they even say they are fuel tanks on them. Not missiles but aircraft fuel tanks.
Now we wonder where they are going.
UPDATE 9:40 a.m.: According to Mark Frimmel who is the owner of the Texas Travel Project, “They’re for the United States Air Force. They’re wing-mount fuel tanks–unused…The Air Force is transporting from one place to another.”

Joe Dirt, Joe Dirt!
My first thought.
Whaaa, I got the poo on me!
That is a bit unsettling but it also calls to mind the legendary theft of the Picky, Picky, Picky bomb.
That was one of the all time great pranks!
I would imagine it’s just a fuel pod. seriously doubt they would leave any ordinance on the side of the road, live or otherwise. Wonder what it’s for though.
Buddy’s Towing in Willow Creek has a rocket!
Somebody probly bought it to make a soap box racer a flower pot. I don’t think anything important would be such an open box. The government hides those thing much better
That’s an aircraft fuel tank. Not a missile.
its an aircraft fuel tank it’s not no missile
Bulgarian SAM site coming in?
Did the [Edit] buy the S-400?
That’s a definite game changer if they have it along with crews to use it.
Wait and see with those track suit [Edit] .
The Bulgies bought the Shamrock Ranch in Laytonville. That should give everyone pause.
Perfect site for [Edit] SAM sites…
If the [Edit] can control what flies over, will this up the p value?
If they DO have the S-400 I’d think all tracksuits will be embargoed coming in.
Smart people will invest in crates of tracksuits to sell at a profit in the coming months.
I think gold chains would be a good investment opportunity also.
Stock up…
Track suits, gold chains, goat cheese, and that wine they make from grass and stuff.
If the embargo goes down, these are better than gold.
.Stock now if you want to go with the flow!
Bellytank Racers, in the late 40’s early 50’s the fuel tanks were made into race cars, being all aluminum.
“The Air Force is transporting from one place to another.”
Their GPS sent them to Garberville and then over to Zenia to Hwy 36. I hope they don’t have a deadline.
Why didn’t they just fly them?
that really does not look like the air force. What is going on?
One place to another via Humboldt? Kinda far from an Air Force base don’t ya think Mark? Me thinks you took a bit of a side trip. Running up the per-mile paycheck a little?
That truck has been sitting there since Sunday. I am looking at it right now. Must be a helluva layover
Humboldt vortex
We used to “requisition” those wing tanks from the Air Force Base near Saigon for our shower water tanks at the 25th Division Army Base Camp in Chu Chi, Vietnam. We built a wooden frame to hold them up above our head and put plumbing and a shower head under them. We painted them black to absorb the heat and then took a some what warmer than cold shower in late afternoon.
Cool shower…..I mean story!
Odd they aren’t even close to any air force bases?
Kinda makes you wonder.
And who are the [Edit] ? I used to live on Spyrock in the early 80’s and am curious.
[Edit: Bulgarians]
Jet fuel OG. Transportation at its finest.
Jade Helm!
Thats nothing. Buddys towing in willow creek has their own polaris missle a MiG fighter jet and a tank!
Maybe before all this attention, they were going to fill the tanks with pounds? Maybe the tanks are already full? Hmmmm…..
Actually they do carry empty tanks known as “blivots” which have a screw on access panel to store and transport all kinds of gear when going on detachment. But from the pic these do look F-16 tanks.
Heck of an idea! af
You guys kill me!!what if somebody parked it their on purpose to see what kind of attention it got!!it could be a joke.lol
Saw it in Crescent City today round 3:30 heading North on 101.
Nosey little bastards
