[UPDATE 2 p.m.] Woman Pinned Yesterday off of Dyerville Loop Road Underneath Car Found by Family After 7 Hours
A woman had to be extricated from underneath her car in the 2400 block of Dyerville Loop Road east of Founders Grove after the car she was driving went over the embankment 12 7 hours earlier. A family member found the white Toyota Rav 4 and called in the report about 12:15 this morning.
The California Highway Patrol Incident page hosted by the Lost Coast Outpost reports this as a major injury accident. Multiple local fire crews and The Eel River Valley Technical Resource Team responded to the scene to assist.
UPDATE 2 p.m.: The California Highway Patrol released the following information:
On Saturday, August 13, 2016, at approximately 5:10PM, a 2009 Toyota Rav4 with one occupant was traveling westbound on Dyerville Loop Road, west of milepost marker 2.10 in Humboldt County. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota veered right off the roadway and collided with a power pole. The Toyota continued westbound, and traveled down the steep embankment colliding with a tree. The Toyota came to rest at the bottom of the steep embankment. The driver suffered major injuries and was transported to Redwood Memorial Hospital.
Agencies on scene were Cal Fire, Redcrest Fire, City Ambulance, Eel Valley Tech Rescue, and CHP.
The collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
