Scotia, Rio Dell and CalFire have been sent to the Scotia Bluffs near the railroad tracks for a fire burning in vegetation. The first fire personnel on scene reports that it is “an acre or less. However it has potential to move uphill.” From the green bridge south of Rio Dell, the man says, the fire is about 1/4 mile downriver along the tracks.
UPDATE 9:48 p.m.: Scanner traffic indicates that the fire is spreading rapidly.
UPDATE 10:20 p.m.: According to the Incident Commander, the fire is no longer spreading. Three small fires were found.

I heard they cant get to it?
They are working to get close to it.
They are walking in, last I heard, 1/4 mile hose lay.
As of about 11:10 p.m. two CalFire engines were released from the Scotia Bluffs fire: Humboldt Engine 1251 sent to Garberville station and Shasta-Trinity Engine 2462 to cover the Weott station.
Thank you!
At 1:50 a.m. the Incident Commander radioed in that the hand-crew strike team folks were walking out then, and the remaining two engines and a water tender would be making themselves available about 2:15. In the morning he will need one engine dispatched to return and recheck the fire areas, and another engine and a camp crew to “pull the hose” so it can all be returned to the departments it belongs to.
He was in a poor radio reception area and was going to phone the Command Center with the rest of his info about the fire.
ARSON???
seams similar to the last Scotia incident. 3 @ a time. 15 mins after the tone out it was “a mile of fire” if that was a cigarette butt it must have been the whole pack.
