Car Thieves Fled APD and EPD Before Escaping

Escalade stolen

This is information from the Eureka Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On July 7, 2016 at about 5:49 p.m., the Arcata Police Department notified EPD that they were discontinuing the pursuit of a stolen Escalade entering Eureka near Jacobs and Airport Roads.  At about 5:54 p.m., a caller reported that the same Escalade had just crashed near 18th St. and County Ln.  The caller reported that the occupants fled into a nearby residence.

Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle.  There was no collision but the vehicle did have a broken window from a prior incident.  Officers searched the area and attempted contact at residences but were unable to locate the suspects.

The Escalade was confirmed to have been reported stolen on July 3, 2016 from the 900 block of West Harris in Eureka.  The Escalade was towed for storage until the owner could respond.

The suspects were described as a male and female.  The female was described as blonde with a tattoo on her chest and the male was described as having dark hair.

I live in the neighborhood that these asshats discarded the suv. They were still driving recklessly after they lost the cops. We were all wondering wtf was going on. This area is full of family’s with children, this could have easily been a lot worse. Maybe our police departments need to be trained in the pit maneuver, or to set up a road block. Something besides allowing these kinds of people to get away and repeat their behaviors….

Steal an expensive SUV from Eureka only to drive it back into Eureka? Brilliant!
