5 Acre Fire Burning Near Hoopa
About 2 p.m., a five acre fire was reported to be burning out of control near Hoopa in brush and grass. [Cal Fire has since updated that the incident is one mile south of Weitchpec.]
Hoopa Fire Department requested assistance from the US Forest Service as well as Cal Fire aircraft. Resources on the fire so far include: 1 Air Tactical, 3 Helicopter, 3 Air Tankers (1 heavy 2 standard).
The fire is being called the Milepost Incident.

They may catch this one picture shows a vegetation break and surrounded by natural water barrier on three sides .But of course the wind can play a key part.

Dear horn road. it’s the locals yearly location to lite an arson fire. they will be there a good amount of time mopping it up due to the amount of dead heavy fuels . i know this having worked both hoopa and the Orleans ranger districts for 36 years.
