[UPDATE 8:14 p.m.] Truck Overturned North of Leggett
A blue truck overturned just south of the signal light by the Peg House north of Leggett about 7:10 p.m. An ambulance is en route from Scotia.
UPDATE 7:42 p.m.: One way traffic control has been set up.
UPDATE 8:14 p.m.: The roadway is now clear but the Caltrans light pole is down with exposed wires.
Sadly, there is a dog from the accident that is needing to be brought in which most likely means the owner has been taken to the hospital.

From Scotia??? Are you kidding me? Wow, you get hurt bad around here you’re pretty much dead especially if they take you to Phelps. Where’s the G-Ville wagon?
My guess is if the two lane road was closed the ambulance from the south couldn’t get through. Generally, injured folks in Mendocino county go to a Mendocino county hospital or airlifted out.
The road was open pretty quickly. I got there just a few minutes after the accident and other bystanders were clearing the roadway and waving cars through one direction at a time. CalFire was there within 5 minutes and CHP soon after, they set up traffic control right away. It was reassuring to see everyone working together so quickly.
Somewhat disturbing — when I arrived I was the first person with cell service, so I called 911… and got a busy signal for 40 seconds before it hung up on me. I had to call the CHP hotline and get manually transferred to a dispatcher since 911 wouldn’t connect. Is this a common problem in that area? Seems like something we should push Huffman or our local state officials to improve.
That is the first I’ve heard of this problem but I will now be on the lookout for an issue in that area.
I seems like this area has become the crash zone!
Scotia to legget is a like a 45 min drive right? Even going fast, that’s a long wait for an ambulance. Another reason to slow down and do everything in your own power to drive safely.
