[UPDATE 6:31 a.m.] House Catches Fire on Pine Street in Eureka

Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire at the corner of Amelia Street and Pine Street in Eureka at 11:06 p.m. tonight. Firefighters who arrived at the scene found flames coming out of a bedroom at the corner of the structure.

No occupants were at the house when fire crews arrived. Tim Citro of Humboldt Bay Fire said it took about 10 minutes to contain the fire. Citro said the cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.

UPDATE 6:31 a.m.: Press release from Humboldt Bay Fire:

On June 2nd at approximately 11:15 PM Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a reported residential structure fire 200 block of Amelia Street. Three fire engines, one ladder truck, one squad and two chief officers responded. Upon arrival first arriving crews observed smoke and flames coming from several windows to the front of a one-story single family residence. As units arrived they were assigned to extinguish the fire, ventilate, and search for any trapped occupants. The building was unoccupied and there are no reported injuries.

The fire was knocked down in approximately 10 minutes, with full extinguishment and overhaul taking approximately one hour. Two bedrooms sustained heavy fire damage and there is smoke damage throughout the residence.

The fire’s origin and cause remain under investigation at this time. Damage estimate is approximately $50,000.
