One of Humboldt’s Most Wanted Arrested at Trinidad Casino
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man wanted for felony armed robbery on Thursday, May 19 after they learned that he was at Cher-Ae-Heights Casino in Trinidad.
Gene Nelson is suspected of having robbed the Chevron station in Trinidad last September. Nelson’s picture appeared on Northeastern Humboldt’s Most Wanted poster.
Last Thursday evening, a citzen saw Nelson playing slot machines in Trinidad and reported him to law enforcement.
“Deputies arrested him at the casino after he made a brief attempt to flee,” explained Selena Zorrilla-Mendoza, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office. “He was arrested on outstanding felony warrants, a RAMEY warrant, and fresh charges.

Wasn’t this the same guy who tried to walk out of McKinleyville Ace with a stack of Carhartts and then fled and hid in a nearby barn until arrested? It was a few years back and I think it’s the same guy
If this guy has a long ‘rap sheet’, and judging by this article he probably does, then he would be a good candidate to be made into Humboldt Bay crab food. That way, he would not be a bother to anyone anymore.
