Kimtu Road Closed and PG&E Customers Without Power as Tree Catches Fire From Downed Lines

A tree fell into power lines on Kimtu Road at approximately 1:14 p.m. The tree caught fire and Cal Fire is closing the road. PG&E estimate they will be on site at 2 p.m. Meanwhile about 90 customers are without power.

Gee, It’s right there where the protesters stopped them from taking out dangerous trees a few years ago. I thought that it was funny as all-get-out when the protester guy climbed the redwood that they were trying to remove, claiming that he was saving an old growth redwood. The local rancher called him a “dumb ass”, and told him that it was a young-growth tree and was not more that thirty years old. The funny part was when the protester was almost heart broken that he was not in, and saving, an “old growth. He said “Are you sure? how come it’s so big?” The wise logger packed up his stuff and said “to hell with it”.

I’m glad no one was hurt.

So, trees fall onto power lines in Kimtu and by Ettersburg Junction, plus a 2 car collision in Whitmore Grove and an earthquake, all this afternoon? Wow!
