[UPDATE: Open] Hwy 101 Completely Blocked by Fruit
All lanes of Hwy 101 are blocked by a fruit-filled tractor trailer that overturned south north of Piercy about 5:20 p.m. The driver is reportedly uninjured.
The California Highway Patrol Incident page reports that the semi was loaded with fruit. We’ll be updating as soon as we learn more.
UPDATE 5:46 p.m.: A reader who sent in the photo reports that the southbound traffic can use Old Hwy 271 to go around. The truck is reported to be a semi with a cab towing a 40 foot container trailer.
UPDATE 6:05 p.m.: The Ferndale Enterprise reports that traffic is getting through.

Would it be worse to have an apple spill… or an orange spill?
It couldn’t happen, silly. You’re mixing apples and oranges. 😉
I would say oranges. Any apples that ended up off the road would be eaten by the local wildlife.
Adore the headline…Picturing a chorus line of bananas, mangoes, apples & grapes. Thanks
101 blocked!
“Traffic getting through one lane open, free orange juice on NB 101 at Hum Co line.”
What kinda fruits were in there? Lemons, Grapes, Blueberries, or Tomatoes?
Fruit salad anyone?
It is not “Old Highway 271” but rather Old Highway 101 which was renumbered 271.
Yes, you’re right. I should have worded that better.
Kym- how can I send you pictures to consider posting?
