Trucker Receives Minor Injuries in Today’s Hwy 299 Accident
Press release from the California Highway Patrol:
On Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at approximately 06:05 AM, [Jordan] Payne [age 37 of Grass Valley] was driving a Freightliner truck pulling a 48 foot long trailer westbound on SR299 when, yet to be determined reason, Payne allowed the truck to drift off the north side of the roadway onto the dirt/gravel shoulder. Payne attempted to steer the truck back onto the roadway, however, he lost control of the truck which caused it to roll onto its side. This blocked both the eastbound and westbound lanes for approximately 40 minutes until Caltrans arrived with a front end loader and moved the trailer to allow one-way traffic control. Payne was transported to Trinity Hospital by Trinity County Life Support [where he was treated for minor injuries.]
