It Was a Struggle, According to Deputies, But They Managed to Arrest a Suspect Who Attempted to Flee

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

201602236 LindgrenOn Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at about 10:50 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious person in the area of the 700 block of Kelly Ave in McKinleyville. Upon arrival, deputies met with 27 year old Todd Allen Lindgren. Deputies conducted a records check through the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center which revealed Lindgren was considered armed and dangerous. Deputies attempted to detain Lindgren in handcuffs and encountered resistance. After a short struggle, deputies were able to detain Lindgren after taking him to the ground as he attempted to flee.

Deputies searched Lindgren’s vehicle which was parked nearby and located a loaded pistol grip shotgun.

Lindgren was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for resisting arrest, carrying a loaded firearm, and for violation of a court order not allowing him to possess a firearm. His bail was set at $25,000.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.

Mind boggling. A f@cking loaded, pistol grip shotgun that is intended to do harm, not hunt with and bail is 25k??????????? Loaded guns by themselves should have a minimum of 50k bail plus whatever else they get charged with. Cops, these are weapons intended to harm you and anyone else. Please make it harder for these violent people to make it out of jail. Violence and weapons should have a greater bail amount.

felon not allowed guns – resisting arrest from “Deputies” – carrying a loaded firearm.

we’ll have none of that “throw the book at ’em dano”. very interesting. maybe more charges later over this incident.
i thought lo throws the book at you in the attempt to maintain bargaining power in plea bargins w/defendants…

I thought “pistol grip shotguns” were illegal in themselves. Like “sawed-off” shotguns. Am I confused about this? Anyone out there know? af

If a shotgun’s barrel is less than 18 inches, it’s illegal. This is one of the most frequently asked questions about shotguns.
If a shotgun is less than 26 inches in overall length, it’s ‘short barreled’, even if its barrel is 18″ or longer. This is a strange point, but it’s in the penal code.

Short barreled shotguns are not illegal to own. You must have the proper paperwork though.

Law enforcement doesn’t set the bail. It comes from a standard bail schedule prepared by the courts.

Furthermore, bail is NOT a fine.

bail is a fine, just the state is not the one making the money…the bail bonds men are.
