Blob Man Rising: A Mysterious Geoglyph Appears in an Arcata Field

unnamed (18)

Pilot and attorney Mark Harris took this photo of Blob Man Rising.

A giant, naturally forming geoglyph (that’s even more mysterious than a crop circle) is dancing in a field outside of Arcata, folks. Mark Harris, the pilot and attorney who took this photo, calls it Blob Man Rising.

Could the beast have awakened in response to a need? Does it have spiritual significance? Does anyone have answers?

Don’t have answers, folks? Don’t worry. Neither do we. But we love the whimsical joy of this vision from the air.

Another angle.

I recognize that area… went by there this morning on the way to the beach. The critter was there for Google, too… zooming in, i see some sort of metal equipment at the tip of one of its feet. Maybe it’s some kind of filtering or leaching field? Only the ranchers know for sure… they might be into some spooky stuff, who knows?!

It appears to be remnants of the upper reaches of Mad River Slough. There is a lot of low land that doesn’t drain. More visible this year because of all the rain? The shape just happens to be a frog star. 🙂 Lucky, I guess.
