Woman’s Body Found After ‘Suspicous’ Fire in Fort Bragg
Press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff:
On 02-28-2016 at approximately 11:49 PM the Fort Bragg Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at a residence in the 16000 block of Franklin Road in Fort Bragg, California.
When fire fighters arrived they found a residence and another building on fire. After the fires were extinguished fire fighters located the body of a deceased adult female inside the residence.
Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies responded and began an investigation into the circumstances of the fire and death of the woman.
On 03-01-2016 the adult female was identified as being Cathy Westerling (54 year-old female from Fort Bragg, California) during a forensic autopsy.
The investigation into the case of the fire is still ongoing at this time.
According to the Press Democrat, fire officials are calling this blaze “suspicious.”

Do they know if she was dead before the fire was started?very sad prayers to the family’s
The autopsy can tell if there is soot or burns in the lungs. If none, the person was not breathing when the fire burned around them.
Cathy Westerling was my sister and we her family had not heard from her in several years . She flew me out several times and i loved it out there it was beautiful the ocean in front of her house and the forest in her backyard.
