Dog’s Leg Partially Amputated in Animal Cruelty Case
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On Thursday, January 21, 2016, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Animal Control Office was notified by a veterinarian’s office of a dog with a partially amputated leg. The veterinarian told ACO’s the leg must have been amputated several months ago because of the way the leg was healing. Animal Control Officers (ACO) responded to the veterinarian’s office and determined the dog would need surgery to remove the rest of his leg. The dog is an intact, one year old male, blond, German Shepherd/Husky mix. He is friendly and of good weight. The dog’s leg was amputated by an unknown person just below the elbow. The dog was surrendered to the Humboldt County Animal Shelter and is in need of surgery. The Animal Shelter is asking for donations to help with the cost of the dog’s surgery.
This case is under investigation [as a possible animal cruelty case] by ACO Hale. If anyone has information regarding this case, please contact the Animal Shelter at (707) 840-9132.

literally made my skin crawl…such a good looking Dog, hope the best for him, id offer to adopt him but my wife rescued herself a dog already.
Would love to see an update of this guy when he finds a forever home. He is beautiful and I would love to have him but I can’t have another dog. I hope it wasn’t caused by abuse and if so then lock ’em up!
awwwww good thing hes been able to adapt..i just wondered, was he found like that and taken to the vet? and couldn’t it be possible he got ran over at one point and they fixed it best they could..because otherwise he looks well cared for being a white dog…his coat is clean…hes a good weight…and hes so friendly from appearances..he doesn’t seem afraid of humans…in any event he is a strong dog…so beautiful…wish we could have pets.
I love dogs and I hate it when they are harmed.I hope he finds the loving home he deserves I’d take him ,but rescued 2 a dog’s and 3 cats all from Miranda s I told my chloe girl I said dog you just won the lottery she has and is the best dog I’ve every had she is do kind and just wanted to be petted
I hope they find out who did this and do the same to them as punishment. Dogs have feelings too. I love mine as if they were my own children. Well, they are!
Poor guy. Would love to adopt him but hubby says no more pets. Hope they find the prick that did this. [edit] Just makes my blood boil
I hope there is evidence of amateur amputation and not traumatic amputation. What is the evidence?
Heartbreaking! Although both situations are horrible and the person/persons who did this should be severely punished, why is this more newsworthy than a kitten being beaten, tortured and left to die on Humboldt Hill? This was confirmed by a vet. There is a special place for people who do these things to animals! Unbelievable!
How can I donate? Such a beautiful baby! I’d love to foster or adopt him.
Here is the donation information:
The Shelter Emergency Medical Fund managed by local rescue, Friends for Life Animal Rescue is making this possible!
SHELTER EMERGENCY MEDICAL FUND: this program serves animals in need at the Humboldt County Animal Shelter who are suffering from illness and/or injury and have exceeded the amount of money allocated for veterinary care that the county shelter is able to provide.
