Man Found Deceased Near Alderpoint Road Still Unidentified

HCSOThe deceased man discovered near the Alderpoint Road yesterday by someone walking their dogs had no identification on him, said Selena Zorrilla-Mendoza, a Community Service Officer with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. He had been there a relatively short time, she confirmed. The man had been dead less than 48 hours when he was found.

At this point, law enforcement and the Coroner’s Office does not know the man’s name or address.

Fingerprints have been collected but it could still be some time before the public knows the deceased man’s name.

Zorrilla-Mendoza confirmed that it could take up to 10 days for her office to have the results. If this results in someone being identified, “then we have to notify the next of kin before we will release his name,” she said.

Walking a dog doesn’t make sense to me. If you live that close to the road wouldn’t you walk the dog on your own property and not a narrow road? I don’t see any homes close by.

Could be checking the perimeter for signs of rippers, campers, tweekers, etc.

Many stop on the winding drive to give their dogs a potty break – also results in lots of lost dogs…

Lots of folks have been out checking their local roads after that last rain that ate many roads in so hum.
The problem may be you are trusting maps to show the exact location, which is often inaccurate in our rural areas. If you have the latitude/longitude then you can find exact spot. What does it matter anyway unless you are the detective working the case?

People regularly stop on AP road to let their dogs out to go to the bathroom. Doubt the person was just out for a stroll, not the place for it.

Sure but your talking about a bunch of low iq genius einsteinias that work for the local government, they just don’t comprehend anything, they are good at theorizing and regurgitating dumb unfactual made up information,…

on the first article about this…The place where the red marker was on the map I am familiar with, There are no houses ANYWHERE within at least a mile or so of that spot. As soon as it said that someone found while walking there dog I was somewhat skeptical. Not saying it’s completely impossible but If someone really did find while walking there dog, they were a good distance away from there house or ANY house for that matter. There is also a possibility that the marker was in wrong spot on last article, And I am judging this unfairly based on incorrect information.

Thanks kym, ya I kind of figured the marker wasn’t showing the exact spot that the corpse was found. Either way though someone posted a comment about seeing sheriffs a few pullouts past dyerville loop road meaning (At least in my assumption) that it was found before the Y but past dyerville road. Theres only a few pullouts in between those things, so Even if marker wasn’t showing exact location, still makes my previous statement valid about there not being any houses anywhere close by. However as others have said, could be possible someone pulled over to let there dog out of there car, rather then actually ‘walking’ the dog on AP road.

I saw the sherif and a private vehicle parked in a pullout along alderpoit road a little ways past Dyervill. They were both looking over the edge at the side of the road. No houses nearby and not even on a driveway, I’m sure by walking his dog they meant taking a break and letting the dog out. No abandoned vehicles nearby and it wasn’t somewhere somone would naturally end up so doesn’t leave many options on how the body got there.

I doubt we need to focus on the person who found the body. We are lucky that they even reported this in the first place.

Have they released cause of death? Or do they always hold that untill the body is identified?

Certainly sounds like the body was dumped…

People walk with and without dogs, jog, hitchhike and ride horses and bikes all along that route every day. It may look weird from the internet but thats life in a rural area.
