[Service Restored!] Got Phone? Service Issues for Verizon Customers Near Hwy 36
The McClellan Mountain cell tower lost power yesterday and quit working. Verizon spokesperson, Heidi Flato, said that this is affecting multiple customers in the area around Highway 36, Bridgeville and Dinsmore.
The original problem began with a snow storm knocking out the power in that area on December 24. However, Flato explained, the site’s backup generator kept it running until Saturday. Then, the generator failed. However, the backup batteries, she said, “continued to power the site until approximately 3:00 p.m. yesterday.”
Since then, Flato said, Verizon customers may have experienced 4G LTE and 3G service issues in the area.
“[A]ccess to the site is challenging due to inclement weather and rugged terrain,” Flatmo explained. “Still, our technicians are working to repair the generator and restore service as quickly as possible.”
UPDATE 2:39 p.m.: Resident Dottie Simmons tells us that service came back on by 2:19 p.m.
UPDATE 3:02 p.m.: According to Heidi Flato, “Service was restored just before 2:00 p.m. today.”
