Victim of Stabbing in Hoopa Today Refuses to Cooperate

A stabbing occurred in Hoopa prior to the stabbing in McKinleyville today, according to Selena Zorrilla-Mendoza, a Community Service Officer with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

“We have uncooperative male victim,” she explained who is declining to give information about who stabbed him or where the stabbing occurred.

The man, she said, was located near Ray’s Food Place about 1:55 p.m. Hoopa Tribal Dispatch contacted the Sheriff’s Department with the information on the incident.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

These things happen. Who called the cops? I don’t understand why they were involved if there wasn’t a complaint. Was it the ER? Where can a body go simply for repairs? What triggered the cops? Make work? Seems there’s enough work waiting already. af

“Refuses” is such a loaded word. I would prefer “declines” unless the police demanded cooperation under threat of retaliation or something similar. I notice the paraphrasing of the officer uses “declining,” as well.
