Flooding and Sandbag Information

floodThere’s some serious raining going on out there, folks.

The Weather Service says, “Heavy rain will continue across much of Northwest California today into tonight. The heaviest precipitation is expected in southern Humboldt, southern Trinity, and Mendocino counties.”

Keep a lookout for flooding in the usual areas. Caltrans particularly is warning that the Hookton Road on and offramps have been closed.

According to the Ferndale City Manager’s office sandbags are available at Gate D at the Fairgrounds as well as on Francis Street. These are free of charge but, they say,  “We prefer that you be a Ferndale resident…so many are in need.”

Mendocino County Transportation Department’s Facebook page offers this:

There are sandbags and sand available to the communities at the following fire department or community locations:
Albion Fire Department
Brooktrails Fire Department
Comptche Fire Department
Covelo Fire Department
Fort Bragg Fire Department
Hopland Fire Department
Potter Valley Fire Department
Redwood Valley-Calpella Fire Department
South Coast Fire Department
Westport Fire Department
Willits Community Center
