Two of Southern Humboldt’s Most Wanted Captured

Two more people on Southern Humboldt’s Most Wanted poster have been arrested. When asked about the people on the most wanted posters sometimes only having drug related offenses, Sgt. Jesse Taylor of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said, “I too had to think long and hard about who to put on there and knew there would be a belief that HCSO was putting these people on display.  To my defense, everyone who makes the poster is being investigated for other criminal conduct.  It may say they are wanted for drugs but there is always much more to the story.”

Press release provided by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 11-19-2015, at approximately 9:10 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip for one of the fugitive listed on the “Southern Humboldt’s Most Wanted Poster”. The tipster reported that Gretchen Brooks (age 38) was seen walking in the 900 block of Redwood Drive, Garberville.

Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Garberville Station responded to the area. Deputies were able to locate Brooks and took her into custody without incident.

On 11-21-2015, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Sheriff’s Deputies were following up on a tip where an anonymous caller reported seeing Dennis Hicks (age 37) driving a green SUV type vehicle in the Miranda area. Deputies located the vehicle parked near a residence in the 10 0block of Gibney Road, Miranda. imageservletHICKSDeputies located Hicks on the property and took him into custody without incident.

Both Hicks and Brooks were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked for various warrants.

These arrests were based solely on information provided by anonymous tips.

I looked on the most wanted posters. I wanted to compare the mug shots… than and now. But, I didn’t see them on the list. I guess Hicks made bail in March and was out again.

Gretchen was in a terrible car accident about ten years ago and
had to take pain pills for painful permanent nerve damage…
and from there?
its a familiar story all across the states, substituting
things like heroin when the pain pills became more controlled
and more expensive…
and then its out of control, an epidemic…
maybe she’ll get help and show her grandkids that pic someday and
she and Kym can have a laugh about the good old days…

I’m sure the dead body she left in her house stinking for 4 days this year will be good for a laugh. And I’m sure the parents of the fine young deceased man will be laughing about it, too. And the home invasions… Just bust a gut.

i am just now discovering this website while tracking Gretchen on Humboldt CivicAlerts…
that man is the love of my life {18 years of friendship, 13 of those as intimates}, we were married at one time, and we are best friends. i will point out that Gretchen is most likely directly accountable for his death, quite possibly intentionally and directly. they were txt arguing right before he died {i have his phone}. once the death was FINALLY reported, she was told by sheriffs to leave all his belongings alone until his next of kin {his brother and i} arrived. in the time before we got there she stole thousands of dollars of his belongings. later in the year a friend caught her selling his camera equipment on FaceBook and brought it to attn of the sheriff. she destroyed all of his journals. she tried to steal his birth certificate, social security card, and motorhome title. the “investigation” into this probable manslaughter/possible murder was cursory at best. he had NO history of doing hard drugs, but the sheriffs didn’t seem to think that was important and didn’t think there was clear motive to warrant a real investigation by the crimial investigation division.
she has been picked up and released by the sheriff at least four times since last fall, as if she just does “victimless” crimes. she is dangerous to our community!!!
i hope she gets the help she so despatately needs before there are any more dead bodies in her wake, and before any other families have to go through the senseless grief we have all undergone these past seven months…

I can’t say. But it’s possible she shared her smack with the young man who had never tried it and then… But we don’t know that. Doped up and/or in complete denial. But not in denial enough that she went into the room, locked the door from the inside and then snuck out the window to make it look like something other than what it was. Door was never locked. Point is, she’s got a death of a bright young man on her hands. This is not small time. Cops didn’t care. Let the druggies kill themselves, they probably thought. No investigation of a potential manslaughter.

These scum bags will be out within a day or two. They let the last home invading scum bag (Rice) out within 3 days who was also on the Most Wanted List. No consequences for hard core drug addicted criminals. Seems to be the plan, is wait till they kill someone. Sometimes even then they turn them loose, ( kimberley steel ).
