Raina was found in a clearing approximately 3/4 of a mile Northeast of the residence where she was last seen.  Raina had descended approximately 400 feet in elevation while walking in heavily wooded terrain.

Raina was found clothed in a minimal amount of clothing and was absent shoes.  It was obvious to searchers that Raina lacked a sufficient amount of clothing to keep her warm overnight with expected temperatures to reach in the 40’s.

Raina appeared to be in good health and only appeared to have minor abrasions on her body consistent with having walked in the heavily wooded terrain.  Raina was transported to the Frank Howard Memorial Hospital for precautionary medical examination.

Due to the circumstances of Raina’s disappearance the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office submitted a mutual aid request which resulted in the assistance of personnel from CALFIRE, Mendocino County Search and Rescue, Brooktrails Fire Department, Lake County Search and Rescue, California Highway Patrol, California Highway Patrol Redding Air Operations, Marin County Search and Rescue, Sonoma County Search and Rescue, California Rescue Dog Association (CARDA), National Guard Air Asset (Camp Roberts),Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), Mendocino County Office of Emergency Services, Monterey Search and Rescue, Contra Costa County Search and Rescue, Napa County Search and Rescue, California Department of Corrections, Sherwood School faculty, Willits Unified School District and Falck ambulance service.

Good news, I sure hope they don’t put the parents through the ringer too much unless they really deserve it. Kids at that age do have a tendency to just wander off.
