CHP Officer Recovering at Home Following Shooting Sunday

The California Highway Patrol reported that the officer injured in Sunday’s fatal shooting is “recovering well at home.” An update early this afternoon stated, “He is expected to make a full recovery. (See update below.)

Officer Steve Curtis, a 14-year veteran of the force, was shot when making a traffic stop at approximately 4:15 p.m. on November 1. According to yesterday’s press conference, the driver of the vehicle, Killian O’Quinn, age 20, stepped out of the car saying, “I’m about to have a very bad day.” Then he fired at the officer. Curtis returned fire and O’Quinn died from wounds he received.

Happy to hear the CHP officer is doing well.it must have been a shock to see the guy with a gun shoot at you.not something that happens everyday on patrol.it seemed like shoot out at ok corral!!bless you for the job you have to do.my uncle was a.CHP in the hydsville Lolita etc.the one thing he said he never had to shoot anyone was a good day.Thank you

What a scary situation for this officer who would think when you pulled someone over they would come out with a gun blazing. What a dangerous job our police have. Thank you protecting our town! And wishing you a speedy recovery!
