[UPDATE 4:05 p.m. Road Now Open] Hwy 36 Closed, Power Outage, Small Fire All Caused by Falling Tree

Multiple power lines are down across Hwy 36 after a tree fell about ten minutes before 3 p.m. The road is closed, according to the scanner, “at the base of McClellan Mountain” with no estimated time of reopening. Fire crews are on site dealing with a small blaze that sprang up. PG&E reports that about 95 customers are without power.

UPDATE 3:43 p.m.: The incident commander reports that fire crews “have a line around about 75% of the fire” but will not be able to complete the line until PG&E shows up to deal with the live wires.

UPDATE 4:05 p.m.: According to Caltrans spokesperson Myles Cochrane, the road is open to one way controlled traffic.

UPDATE 5:06 p.m.: The road is now completely open, said Cochrane.
