Stabbing Victim Uncooperative, Says EPD

Eureka Police DepartmentOn 09/10/2015 at about 7:40 AM, Eureka Police Department officers responded to a stabbing that just occurred at a restaurant on the 3400 block of Broadway. The caller reported a subject had been stabbed inside the business and the suspect was last seen behind the former Ray’s Food Place building.

Officers arrived on scene and located the adult male victim in the lobby of the restaurant. The victim sustained two stab wounds to the abdomen. The wounds did not appear to be life threatening. A second responding officer located a subject matching the description of the suspect on the west side Walmart. The officer held the subject at gunpoint until responding units could arrive and the subject could be safely detained pending further investigation. A field show up with a witness was conducted and the detained subject’s involvement was ruled out. He was identified as a local probationer and released at the scene. The area was checked but the stabbing suspect was not located.

The victim, who refused to cooperate with the investigation, was treated at a local emergency room for his injuries. This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with credible information concerning the case and the suspect’s identity is asked to contact Officer Ben Omey at (707) 441-4060.
