[UPDATE 8 p.m.] Grass Fire North of Dean Creek
A fire is burning north of Dean Creek. According to reports the fire is about one quarter acre in size and burning in grass and brush just north of the Redway exit.
This is being called the Dean Incident.
UPDATE 12:54 p.m.: Stitched photo showing fire.
UPDATE 1:48 p.m.: According to Cal Fire spokesperson, Laura Coleman, “The Dean fire is 2 acres [with a] slow rate of spread. Forward progress has slowed down.
UPDATE 4:45 p.m.: Coleman tells us the fire was started by a vehicle and is about three acres in size.

UPDATE 8 p.m.: According to Cal Fire, the Dean Incident which started at 12:23 p.m. burned three acres before being contained. CAL FIRE–both air and ground responded as did Phillipsville, Miranda, Garberville, Redway, and Briceland Fire Departments. The fire was caused by a vehicle dragging a chain.
