[UPDATE 9/9] Woman Missing: Coast Guard, Law Enforcement and Volunteers Searching Hammond Trail

A missing woman with a “brain condition” is being sought by law enforcement and a Coast Guard helicopter along the Hammond Trail, confirmed Lt. Wayne Hanson of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, age 42, 5′ 8″, 210 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes has been missing since 12:30 p.m. yesterday when she went for a walk.  Chellesta Fleek left from McKinleyville onto the trail but has not been heard from since.

The Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by a United States Coast Guard Helicopter in the search.

The missing female has been identified as Chellesta Fleek age 42. Fleek is described as a white, female, 5’­8” in height, black, short curly hair and brown eyes. Fleek has been missing since Monday at 12:30 p.m. The family members are concerned over her safety, because they have not heard from her since yesterday, which is out of character for Fleek.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707­445­7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707­268­ 2539.

UPDATE 10:15 p.m.: KIEM is reporting that the missing woman was found.

UPDATE 7:51 a.m.: Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

On 09-08-2015 at 7:00 p.m. the missing person Fleek used a pay phone at the Safeway store in Arcata to call the Arcata Police Department. Fleek had heard it on the news that she was reported as a missing person. The Arcata Police Department then contacted Fleek and gave her a courtesy ride to Eureka.

I think you are talking about Celeste Fleek. Her first name was misspelled.

Celeste Fleek here…this whole scenario has been a sadly communicated correspondence of information. What if I actually had been a missing person, and all the critical information in the article which was inaccurate and misspelled, like this one about me (food for thought for the writer)… however, thank you so much for the efforts to all the men, women, and K9’s that participated in the efforts to find me-you are all appreciated. That must have been an expensive effort based on false information.
