[UPDATE 8:49 p.m.] Motorhome on Fire on 299, Possible Spread to Wildlands

According to scanner traffic, multiple agencies are responding to a motorhome on fire out Hwy 299 near mile marker 26 about 5:13 p.m. (See map below.) The blaze is being called the Snow Incident and concern is being expressed about possible spread to the wildlands.

With the fire burning east of Weaverville, another wildland fire on Hwy 299 would disrupt traffic and could spread resources thin.

UPDATE 8:49 p.m.: We don’t have many details but Laura Coleman from Cal Fire did tell us that the incident is contained.

Bigvalleyvent has to be the worst excuse for a news site I have ever seen. The topix blog post about the pines is better than that crap. What a joke.

Three miles out from Hayfork — our power was off for about two hours — rumor in Hayfork was — it might be off for a few days (due to the fire) but fortunately — power came back on here about 6:50 P.M. 🙂
