[Update September 8] Miranda Woman Booked Friday for Vehicular Manslaughter
18-year-old Miranda resident, Carley Palsson, was booked into the Humboldt County jail on Friday. Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter, Palsson was arrested under a Ramey Warrant which bypasses the traditional route of getting the District Attorney to sign off on a warrant and instead, is the result of law enforcement going directly to a judge.
Vehicular manslaughter can be charged by the prosecution as either a felony or a misdemeanor. Felony charges can result in a sentence of up to six years in state prison. Misdemeanor charges can result in a sentence of up to one year in a county jail.
According to this site, fleeing the scene can add as much as five years to the sentence Palsson faces. As of yesterday, she was still in the county jail.
Update September 8: This is a press release from the California Highway Patrol. The information has not been proven in a court of law and the individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
The suspected driver in this Fatal Traffic Collision is in custody. Carly Kethyrn Palsson turned herself into authorities on the evening of 09/04/2015. Palsson is suspected to be the driver of a 2007 Gray Chevrolet Tahoe which, for reasons still under investigation, she allowed the vehicle to leave the roadway and collide into a pedestrian resulting in fatal injuries. The Humboldt Area CHP wants to thank everyone who is assisting in this investigation. Thank you to all citizens who called authorities with any and all information related to this case.

Did she turn herself in,or did they have to chase her down one way or another.
Im pretty sure she turned herself in. Other older articles people had screen shot and commented how she posted on her Facebook saying she was going to turn herself in.
Hope she gets the extra years just cause the smirk on her face.
Note the blue screen that’s her DL pic
In context that picture does her a great disservice.
Alex, I’d like to solve the puzzle….But I won’t here…
Fred fans are everywhere!
In context that picture does her a great disservice.
This is the photo that went out with the CHP’s original report. I believe it is her driver’s license photo. It is not her mugshot.
This is her DMV photo. It is fine. Not a smirky mugshot. Numerous reports have said the victim has a past of going into the roadway! I do not know her, but know no one at 18 who is a full conscious adult especially with all the babying that occurs.
