So…Let’s Review All [the Many, Many] Places California Burns Today
Massive fires consume vegetation and structures around the state today. Here’s Cal Fire’s wrapup. Below that is State Senator Mike McGuire’s tweet about the Rocky Fire in Lake County.
Yesterday afternoon and evening fire activity in Northern California significantly increased as temperatures hit the triple digits and the winds became very gusty. While firefighters worked tirelessly containing over three dozen new wildfires, the windy conditions allowed 5 new large fires to grow rapidly. This morning, nearly 7,000 firefighters are battling 14 large wildfires currently burning in California, including several that are on the National Forest and nearing full containment.
Today, weather conditions will be very similar to yesterday, which will result in fire danger again being elevated. CAL FIRE recommends that all residents living near wildland areas have an evacuation plan and know what they will take if asked to evacuate. When it comes to wildfires, everyone should remember “Ready, Set, Go!”. “Go” means early evacuation. Learn more at www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
