[Updated with Photos] Hazmat Structure Fire Spreading to Vegetation Near Orleans
According to the scanner, fire crews are responding to a structure fire that is moving “into the wild lands” near Orleans in the 700 block of Ishi Pishi Road. Fire personnel were requested around 10:30 a.m. The structure was recently being “exterminated,” so fire crews are being advised that there may be chemicals involved in the fire. We’ll update when we have more information.
Update 11:07 a.m.: Mutual aid is being requested to assist with the fire.
Update 11:45 a.m.: Cal Fire spokesperson Laura Coleman is telling us the United States Forest Service has responded to the fire.
Update 3:23 p.m.: Fire crews are responding to a fire at this location. It’s unclear at this point if it is the same fire or a separate fire. We’ll update when we find out more information.
Update 3:34 p.m.: Cal Fire spokesperson Laura Coleman says:
- Multiple Local Fire Departments are assisting
- OES and Environmental Agencies are also involved
- The structure is two story in the Ishi Pishi area
- The structure was being fumigated at time of dispatch
- Started a little after 10am this morning
- Resources at scene are still battling the fire in a “defensive attack”
- No residences have been displaced
