[UPDATE 2:15 P.M.] Old Weott Motel on Fire

“Heavy fire, heavy smoke showing,” reports the incident commander (IC) over the scanner from a fire in Weott near Hwy 101. The fire is at the old Weott Hotel. Multiple fire departments are responding to the incident.

UPDATE 1:31 p.m.: “Knocked down on main fire,” says the IC but they need additional hoses or line to get into some of the rooms. He’s requesting all resources continue to the incident.

UPDATE 1:39 p.m.: Fire appears mostly under control. Still continuing Cal Fire engines to the incident.

UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: Cal Fire spokesperson Laura Coleman writes that the fire is now in the “overhaul stage” which means that the fire is knocked down and the firefighters are just checking the structure for hot spots, etc. Coleman said three Cal Fire engines and one battalion chief responded as did one engine from Weott Fire and one from Redcrest Fire.
