[Update 4:01 P.M.] Another Fire Breaks Out in Weitchpec Area

Scanner traffic indicates fire crews are responding to a vegetation fire in the Weitchpec area. According to the scanner, the fire is in the area of Martin’s Ferry by Highway 169 and Dowd Road. The fire has been named the “Dowd incident.” We”ll update when we have more information.

UPDATE 4:01 P.M.: Cal Fire spokesperson Laura Coleman tells us it is a “[s]mall 1/4 to 1/2 acre” fire. Cal Fire, Hoopa Fire and the United States Forest Service have responded to the incident. The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.
