Idaho Man Slips off Rock in Hoopa Drowning Case

hcsoThe drowning near Hoopa yesterday, explained Lt. Wayne Hanson of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, has switched into “the recovery phase.” Hanson explained that yesterday evening about 7 p.m., a 27-year-old male from Idaho slipped off a rock and fell into the Trinity River near Big Rock.

His friends recognized that he was in danger and jumped in to assist him. “Both of his friends tried to help but got in trouble….Luckily we didn’t have more than just one victim,” Hanson said.

Hanson said that recent releases from the Lewiston dam made the water cold and full of debris.Another tragic accident.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
