Omholt Makes Bail, EPD Encourages Residents to Call If He’s Seen Loitering

Omholt Jan 2015

This is a press release from the Eureka Police Department. Some of the information has not been proven in a court of law and the individual described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Jason Omholt has been incarcerated in the Humboldt County Jail since January 20th, 2015, after he was arrested for numerous felony charges including felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft, narcotic possession, and possession of stolen property. Omholt was also a suspect in many of the day time burglaries in Eureka that occurred in November and December 2014.

Omholt has plead guilty to a charge of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and was sentenced to the maximum time allowed, 5 years in State Prison. Omholt also admitted a prior strike offense and will be serving a total of 10 years in State Prison.

On May 18, 2015, Omholt was released from the Humboldt County Jail after his bail amount was lowered by the court and he was able to make bail. Residents are encouraged to call EPD if they see Omholt loitering and/or acting suspiciously in their neighborhoods.

Omholt is scheduled to be sentenced on June 11, 2015 in Superior Court.

Yeah I’ll bet he shows up to his sentencing. Lowered the bail? This guy is deff not a good candidate for bail. Couldn’t we find 10 other better candidates? Ankle monitor? Wtf?

Lock up your chicken coop folks.

Probably was Judge Watson the bad-judgment-judge who let him out. That judge needs to retire sooner than later.

He’s slime, but might have a liability case against the police for making a statement like they did regarding him. He has six months to file a claim for damages, but like most police/government liability issues, the board of supervisors will simply cut a check to avoid litigation.

The police have no business clouding a potential jury pool or making malicious statements, in America we are all innocent until proven guilty. It seems that since Peace Officers no longer exist and are replaced by Law Enforcement shaved head, double chin types- the Constitution and Rule Of Law no longer exist.

I’d like to see him file a claim and use the money from the damages to get help.
