Vehicles Allegedly Racing Before Accident on 101
At approximately 1:30 p.m., a vehicle hit a guard rail north of Palmer Blvd. on Hwy 101 near Fernbridge. According to a witness, prior to the collision the two vehicles, a car and a pickup truck were racing. An ambulance is en route now.
UPDATE Monday: According to Matt Harvey, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, on Sunday, a 1997 silver Jeep Cherokee was reportedly racing with a sedan approximately a half mile south of the Singley Hill Offramp on Hwy 101 when it overturned and collided into a wire fence.
Joesph Humberto Paz age 25 of Eureka received minor injuries and was booked into the Humboldt County Jail on misdemeanor driving while impaired charges.

I left eureka around that time as going south by kmart a black corvet and black dodge pick up were going fast was it them

We were driving north and saw something hit the cement wall on the south side and a huge cloud of dust then the car going off the road towards the embankment it happened so fast!! It seemed like they were going very fast from the impact.. Does anyone know if they survived??

I’ve got a call into CHP but the accident only had minor injuries and didn’t impact traffic so it isn’t gathering much attention.
Happy only minor injuries… It looked fatal!!! They are lucky to b alive..my family and I saw it happen and definitely shook us up..
