Sheriff’s Office Releases Details on Burglary Suspects Detained Near C.R.

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and the individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On Thursday, 04/30/2015, at about 1:20 pm, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center broadcast a be on the lookout bulletin to local law enforcement agencies for a vehicle that was believed to be involved in a series of residential burglaries in southern Humboldt and northern Mendocino Counties. The vehicle was described as a grey Toyota Tundra believed to be occupied by two males and two females in possession of at least two handguns.

At about 2:00 pm, a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed the vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 101 near Rio Dell, CA. The deputy began following the vehicle and requested assistance from the Fortuna Police Department to initiate a high risk felony car stop. Once assistance was provided by the FPD and a second deputy arrived to assist, the deputy following the vehicle initiated a traffic enforcement stop by activating the red emergency lights on his vehicle at the Hookton Road on ramp. All four law enforcement vehicles were displaying emergency lights and sirens, but the vehicle failed to yield. The pursuit reached speeds up 65 mph. The vehicle finally stopped on the Tompkins Hill Road off ramp.

A high risk traffic stop was conducted. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 27 year old Joshua Thomas Wentworth of Eureka. The other occupants of the vehicle were identified as 35 year old Sarah Elizabeth Vickland of McKinleyville and 33 year old Crystal Lynn Rosenburg of Eureka. All three subjects were detained without incident.

A stolen and loaded semi-automatic handgun was located in the vehicle. 28 grams of marijuana bud and drug paraphernalia were also located in the vehicle. Joshua Wentworth was arrested for burglary, conspiracy, driving on a suspended license, evading a police officer, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, and probation violation. Rosenburg was arrested for burglary, conspiracy, and probation violation. Strickland was arrested for burglary, conspiracy, probation violation, and possession of methamphetamine and heroin. All three suspects were taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked on the above mentioned charges.
