KMUD: It Takes a Community

Press release provided by KMUD:

kmud (1 of 1)Greetings, Friends, Fans and Followers of Redwood Community Radio!

We’ve begun the first of our 2 major fund-raising efforts of the year, the Spring Green Revolution Pledge Drive, and it’s a time when we look forward to connecting face-to-face a little bit more than usual with the people who make People-Powered Radio.

In the same way that it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to keep community radio on-the-air. Bills for power and tower-rental fees, saving for the replacement of aging equipment, salaries smaller than they should be for a tireless and dedicated staff … it all adds up.

We keep the news, music and talk you’ve come to appreciate coming to you in huge part through donations from listeners, and tons of volunteer work: people answering phones, bringing in lunches and dinners for hard-working volunteers, tabling in the far-flung corners of our listening-area, and talking on-air about why they feel so strongly about giving of their time and energy in support of the Mud.

Join me in the afternoon on Mon., Apr. 27 and help to bring KMUD a little closer to our goal of $85,000. Help us to plan ahead by contacting Volunteer Coordinator Kerry Morgan — by email or phone: 923 2513 — and letting him know when you can come in, and what you’d like to do.

On behalf of the entire KMUD family, I thank you in advance for your support of Your Voice in the Redwoods! Listener-supported Redwood COMMUNITY Radio.
