[UPDATE 9:17 A.M.] Man With a Sword and a Blanket Making Threats

scannerAccording to traffic over the scanner about 7:15 A.M., the Humboldt County Sheriff is responding to Martin Road in McKinleyville. Two people have reported a man with a sword in the area. One said he was making threats to her son. Another described him as wandering around the property with a sword and a blanket over his head.

UPDATE 9:17 A.M.: According to Lt. Wayne Hanson, the Sheriff’s Office, “Put a 5150 hold” on the individual. This means that Sempervirens Psychiatric Hospital in Eureka can hold the man for up to 72 hours because he appears to be either a danger to himself or others.
