Three Injured in Hoopa Shooting

Following an incident near Hoopa, three individuals, possibly with gunshot wounds have been transported to local and out-of-the-area hospitals.

According to incident commander Lt. George Cavinta of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 1:45 p.m. today, a woman heard gunshots near Hoopa. When she investigated, she discovered a male subject in need of medical attention. He was transported to a local hospital. Deputies investigating the incident learned that there were more victims at Pine Creek Road near the rodeo grounds in Hoopa. There, two additional individuals were discovered and transported to an out-of-the-area hospital.

Cavinta said that his department is “still searching for a grey SUV/ or jeep.” At this point, they cannot confirm any information on the suspect/s. “We’re waiting to update the BoLO,” he said.
