Tree Down Blocking Mattole Rd. [UPDATED with Photo]

UPDATE 5:41 P.M.: Photo from a reader taken as dark falls,

UPDATE 5:47 P.M.: CHP dispatch is saying that “more chainsaws” are coming and  a spotlight is there. Cal Fire is working on their plan of attack.

UPDATE 4:29 P.M.: CHP is now saying, “Huge tree.”  This could be a long time before it gets cleared away, folks…

CHP is reporting a tree is blocking both lanes of the Mattole Rd. just west of Hwy 101 near lower Bull Creek. Details are sketchy but at this point it looks like the road will be closed for at least awhile until the tree is cleared.
